Embroidered Blanket & Photo Tip

Pin It! I embroidered this quilt with Baby Kylers name to match the quilt that I made to give to him at the shower. I love the curly font it has. It's been so long that I had used my embroidery machine that I had to totally relearn how to use it. LOL I definitely need to use it way more often!!! Yesterday I had lunch with Felicia and Keith and got the February picture for their pregnancy book I am making for them. I thought it would be fun to try out some pictures with my fisheye lens focusing on her belly. A fisheye lens is extremely rounded and will make whatever is closest to the lens appear largest and then everything else smaller. I took the same picture with and without the fisheye so you could tell the difference. I think it gave a great (although distorted BIG BELLY pic) I love it!

The first picture is taken with a normal lense (28-200)
This is taken with the fisheye lense. See how round and big the baby belly seems. I LOVE it! Who could not LOVE this belly???

Kyler's Quilt

I made a baby quilt for my first grandson to be. The shower is next weekend and am very excited. I found this monkey fabric at JoAnn's . It is absolutely perfect as Keith and Felicia are doing a Monkey / Jungle theme baby room. Primarily in light green. I couldn't have designed fabric any better for the occasion!!! I used a pattern out of the Fat Quarter Quilt book by M'liss Rae Hawley. The pattern is called Roman Stripes, I have used this pattern before and just love it. It is a quick and easy pattern and if you are doing a baby size quilt you will have enough for 2 quilts. One for the baby and one for Grandma's house. LOL

I wrote this dedication using Word on my computer and then printed it onto T-Shirt transfer. After ironing it onto white quilt fabric I stitched it on the back of the quilt. Then finished the quilt by binding it with the soft flannel fabric.
Here is the dedication that I used:

This quilt is made of cloth and thread
To place upon your little bed.
It's not an heirloom just to keep,
But to lie upon as you count sheep.
Or perhaps the floor's the perfect place
For a you and your teddy bears picnic space.
This quilt can be anything you can dream
From Superman's cape to the robe of a king.
Pretend it's a raft adrift at sea,
Or just cuddle up when you watch TV
So use it up and wear it out.
I promise I won't yell or pout.
Just tell me when its days are through,
And I'll make another one just for you.

Snowman Quilt

I thought I would show you another quilt that I made. This is one of my favorite winter quilts because it is made entirely of flannel fabrics. It is soooo warm. The trees are really cute because they are multiple strips of fabric that is layered and then cut so when you wash the quilt it turns fringy and fluffy. Most nights you can find me snuggled under this quilt, usually with a mug of tea or hot cocoa. Mmmm!

Retro Halloween Kaleidoscope Quilt

Pin It! This quilt that I made a few years ago is by far my favorite quilt. This was my second kaleidoscope quilt I have made. They are alot of fun but you must be very precise with your cutting and sewing for them to turn out right. I had purchased the fabric from Keepsake Quilting. It is a quilt store in New Hampshire. My husband and I love going out to Vermont & New Hampshire and whenever we are there I always beg for a trip to Keepsake Quilting. (I was an avid quilter & seamstress before I became a scrapbooker) The pattern for this quilt came from a book called Magic Stack -n- Whack Quilts by Bethany S. Reynolds. I made it bigger than what the pattern called for so my husband had to hang it over the banister so I could take a picture of it. LOL

Barbeque Wine Bottles

I've made these wine bottle aprons and chef hats to give as gifts to the hostess' of barbeques we have attended. They are great to give as gifts. The Mon Cherie one I gave to my sister, her name is Cheri and can speak french fluently and has gone to france many times so I thought it was appropriate for her. The pattern I just made up and then bound the edges with bias binding. The design was embroidered on using my Husqvarna embroidery machine. I'm sure you could also iron on something that you cut from your Cricut in iron on transfer. The hat I just ad-libbed cutting out a circle and sewed it to a strip about the size of the top of my bottle. I've got to get going on more for this summer. I have now included the pattern of the apron for you! I ad-libbed the hat so there is no pattern for that, Sorry. Have a great day!
Download the apron pattern here
I would love to see pictures of ones you make! Enjoy!
