A Peek Inside My Family Tree Albums

I'm kicking off day two of my Blog-aversary with a peek inside my Family Tree Albums and a BIG giveaway!!! A while ago I had several requests to see inside my family tree albums that I had been working on. I got busy with so many other projects and never quite got around to making that video. Well, here it is!!!

But before we go to the video I want to let you know what in store for you today... One lucky winner is going to win a Scrap N Easel!!! Marlo, at Contain Ya Crafts wants to help celebrate my one year anniversary and is offering everyone 30% off Scrap N Tote and a FREE project tote with every Scrap N Easel. Just enter coupon code CREATIONS1 this offer is good through May 15th.

I hope that you all enjoy the video and find it helpful in organizing your family tree or similar project. I have learned that what works for one family doesn't always work for another. I had to organize my Mom's side of the tree entirely different than my Dad's side of the tree. But basically I started with my grandparents and worked backwards in as many directions as possible. Each sibling of my grandparent getting their own section, any decedents or branches from that person were contained in that section. Then again starting at my grandparents, each of their offspring and their decedents got a separate section. This system worked for me. I hope I explained this ok. Anyways...Enjoy the video!

Don't forget today's comment winner (please leave email) is going to win the brand new Scrap N Easel. I have included the video that I made about the Scrap N Easel so that you can see for yourself how great it is and why I'm so excited.

Christie,
Thank you for sharing your ideas on how to organize our heritage albums. I have gathered information, documents and pictures for years, but still have not tackled the huge project of creating a family album. I am inspired and love your ideas, thanks.
Thank you for a chance to win the fabulous Scrap n' Easel. Wow would that ever be handy!

love2quilt95 May 3, 2011 at 3:20 AM

Chritie,
Thank you for the organizing tips. I am always looking for tips that I can implement in my own craft room. I've just started putting things back after redoing my space, I can't wait till it's done so I can start working on some projects. I love your tips and have used quite a few of them.
The easel would be a wonderful way to help keep my projects organized. Thanks for the opportunity and for sharing your wonderful ideas.

I am forwarding your book to a friend who is trying to get certified in Geneology (to do it for a living) and she would love this. What I am excited about is the contest it would be an awesome birthday present (yep, selfishly to me). This may just be the motivation for me to get my bottom in gear and create again since the way it positions it can make it easier for me. Thanks for sharing all ideas and inspiration.

However, i have made an album for each of my kids of their history! Now i am just trying to keep current -- and i am woefully behind. This is an awesome prize you are willing share. Debra Pate May 3, 2011 at 8:40 AM

I loved seeing your Family Tree Albums! I have researched my family history for 31 years! I have tons of Binders with my family tree research in them....letter written from the battlefield during the Civil War, marriage certificates, birth $ death certificates, photos, copies of census, military records, land grants, newspaper articles, etc. I love all of these things that give life to the individuals. My mother told someone, "Debra (me) talks about these people like they are alive and see knows them personally." I guess there may be something to that saying, 'Genealogist aren't crazy. We just sometimes lose our census!'

Hi Cristie, I really enjoy receiving your email about the next adventure you have conquered. Thanks for sharing a little bit of all you do with us. I love the Family Album. Just a few things that brought warmth to my heart. Here are a few items that were really cool:
* great opening poem * using a binder instead of album - easy access for updating *separating by arms (branches) to highlight the family members - * highlighting information from documents to bring to life from small print *tabs for easy access to find family members. All of these ideas were great and I am so pleased you shared it with me. sony.simon@yahoo.com

Congrats on your Blog-aversary Christie! I love, love, love your albums! Like others, I have accumulated a ton of family information, but it has been waiting for me (for way too long) to find the perfect way to organize it. You've helped me to figure out just how I'm going to do that! Thank you SO much!

Also, just wanted you to know how much I appreciate your blog. I have used SO many of your ideas, everything from organizing to projects. One of my favorites was the tin tile table you made for your son. I used your idea to make a jewelry box for a friend and she LOVED it!

Wishing you many more happy blogging years ahead!

Thank you for both video's. I am going to check with my scrapbooking stores here to see if they carry the Bow Easy or if they can order it for me. The rosette video is great as well. I have a lot of the wire ribbon. All of your blog ideas are very educational

I have a Bow Easy and LOVE it (so dont include me in the giveaway). I love your tutorials and having a video does make it easier to learn. Once you get the hang of it, it is super easy. I also love the bows you can create using double or triple loops but just making additional wraps around the bow easy before making your tie.

Good Day Christie, I know this is late in posting but I commented on the wrong post> Oh my God thought your family book was truly amazing. I am in the process of doing mine and now I realize the work that is to go into it. Yours was super special made with so much Love and Thought sorry that I put my post on YouTube.colleenfroud@yahoo.com

Thank you so much for posting this video so we could see your beautiful work. I have been researching my family history too and I agree, it is alot of work. I don't have alot of pictures for my family, but I have lots of stories. Now it is just a matter of sitting down to type them all out and get them scrapped. Your books are beautiful. I love the idea of shrinking down the marriage licenses, wedding invitiation, and birth certificates. I never though of that. Thank you.

hi, thanks so much for showing us your books! I have started a similiar project but love your ideas. Could you show us how you made the pull out pages that have the trees on them? That is an area that I was having trouble with - and your idea is wonderful.

Incredible! What a lovely keepsake of your family tree! I really like how you put each branch on the tree in separate fold out pages!

Love your videos! I would LOVE a bow easy! I have problems with my hands and it would make making bows so much easier for me!

Oh My Word! Your albums are truly heirlooms. You family is so lucky. Wish I had your talent and time. The Scrap N Easel looks like a great tool (I'm a messy gluer too).

HI Christie, Love your albums - what a treasure! Have a question...hope you will answer! HOW did you make the flipout pages? Or were they purchased somewhere(and where) Knowing how "crafty" you are - I'm thinking you made them! Thanks for sharing!!
