Picnic Paradise!

It's finally here...Our Blog Hop...so here's what you do, check out my post and be sure to leave a comment with your email. (click comments on the top right side of the post)I am doing a Prize Giveaway to one lucky winner! Then visit the other 10 blogs on the hop. I have posted the blog before and after myself so you can go either way. Enjoy and don't forget to leave your email so I can contact my lucky winner :) Leave comments on all the blogs to have a chance to win a grand prize of H2O Cricut cartridge generously provided by http://www.memorymiser.com/ .PICNIC "pic'nic (pik'nik), n. (origin uncertain) 1. A kind of fashionable social entertainment at which each person contributed food to a common table; now, an excursion or pleasure party in which the members partake of refreshments together, usually in the open air, the food being either carried by themselves or provided by one or more individuals for the party." (Webster's New International Dictionary)
Above is my color inspiration, these are papers from K & Company and I just love the bright pinks and pretty summer colors. I wanted to use those throughout my project so you will see my models (which were cut from the Block Party cartridge) are wearing them and I used them in the other decorations. I used flocking for the hair on 2 of them and Adirondack gold paint dabber for the other, check out the cute earrings on the girl with the jeans. I hope you get some great ideas. Let's start with something to eat...the recipe card is from From My Kitchen and you can download the recipe HEREMy lovely models are showing you the straw toppers I made using the Storybook cartridge. I simply cut the shape out of one color and the shadow out of another. I stamped the top piece to give it some texture, I used a different stamp for each -but you don't have to. I thought it would be great to put the guests name on the back of the flower so you know who's drink is who's. I glued the sides of the flower and left a space in the middle so the straw could slip through when dry. Mmm.. Yummy picnic cocktails.I used the bird from the Wall Decor and More cartridge for the pink frisbee and the curly tree from the Heritage cartridge for the green frisbee. I got these great colors by using the alcohol inks on the Cricut cuttables vinyl and then cutting it. They turned out great! And the winner of the frisbee contest is....Indy!!!
Her winning ribbon is cut from Plantin SchoolbookThis adorable cupcake is made with Lite Cupcake Wrappers and the topper is made from the Storybook cartridge the leaf is cut from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. Way too cute!!! I used Shrink Film to create these super cool wine glass charms. I used alcohol ink to ink the plastic and then I wrote the name on it with a white paint pen. The hole to run the metal ring through was punched with my Crop-A-Dile. Finally, I heated it with my heat gun to "shrink" it. I show in the photo below the before and after sizes of the charms. They were cut from the Storybook cartridge, remember to multi-cut when using Shrink Film. I loved the look of the alcohol inks so much that I went with it some more and decorated this pink water bottle from the dollar store. I inked the ProvoCraft Cuttables vinyl with alcohol inks in greens to create this beautiful green color. I then cut the bird border from the Wall Decor and More cartridge. It easily adheres to the bottle. You can now make custom vinyl in any color. Just think of all the possibilities...I backed the green fabric with Steam-A-Steam and then cut it into 32 - 3" squares. I ironed them onto the center of my tablecloth creating a checkerboard pattern. For my checker pieces I created ants to go with my picnic theme. Since there is no ant on any cartridge I made my own using the George and Basic Shapes. You can get the file HEREMy models are now ready to retire from their modeling career and will now find a spot on a scrapbook page, one of the K & Company papers will be just perfect. You will see them in an upcoming post...right after I enjoy my picnic.

I hope you enjoyed your time here now off to visit the next stop on the Blog Hop... http://pinkcricut.com/ or http://kricutkween.blogspot.com/

Your models are just so cute, especially Indy. Love how you incorporated her into your post. Never would have thought to use vinyl on the frisbee, great way to personalize them for a kids party.
