RSD/CRPS Awareness Hop Winner

The RSD/CRPS Awareness Blog Hop was successful. I found from your comments that many of you learned for the first time about it. I am thankful that it was able to help so many people. I don't share my story with many people because I don't want people to look at me differently or treat me any different than they did before. I have found that because I don't "look sick" many people don't know what to do or how to act. I can also relate to many of the comments that spoke of fibromyalgia, unfortunately that is one of the problems of your nervous system going wonky due to RSD/CRPS, you can get Fibro. I have the misfortune of having that too but left that out to focus on the reason for the hop. My heart goes out to all of those that also have any type of pain, you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Now for the winner of the drawing.... Terry Kelling

Thank You all for your wonderful comments!

  1. Wow, thank you soo much. I'm so excited to win the awesome goodies.

I want to thank you again for sharing your story. You have given me the strength to share mine. I too do not share mine often either, my friends know and for the most part understand. They are afraid to give me hugs. I love hugs! I always say, Hugs are good, I can handle a hug pain. I am so glad I have found your site and read your post. You have given me more strength to keep going and hang in there!

Sending out gentle hugs to all that live with any type of chronic pain. Thanks again Christie for encouraging us all!
    Hugs and Blessing!

  2. Congratulations Terry! You're right about this being such an enlightening and informative post, allowing many like myself to speak out about things we might not otherwise share.

Christie I agree with you about not mentioning this too often. It is so much more productive to put our focus on more positive and uplifting things. At the same time it's nice to be able to support each other.

    Gentle hugs...
    Sharon

  3. Christie, I am so sorry you have suffered so much with RSD. I too have it and had never heard about it until I was diagnosed in Jan 2010. Mine seems so minor compared with yours but I had four nerve blocks in four weeks and they really helped a lot. Mine was the result of falling face first onto a granite floor with my hands in front of me. The emergency room wrapped one arm from fingertips to the elbow and put a brace on the other half way up my arm. My pain wasn't too bad but the stiffness is quite frequent, like every morning and night. When I wake up, it takes a while before I am able to make a fist but once I get it, I am usually fine until I stiffen up again that evening. I thought it would finally go away but the doctor said any surgery on either arm, for the rest of my life, would require another nerve block. Sometimes I have very poor strength in my hands and probably need to go back for another block but they are scary when you see the doctor coming at your neck with that very long needle.
Good luck with yours and stay scrapping and healthy. Pat in Bel Air, MD

  5. I just saw your blog and video. Thanks for putting this out there - it really gets the idea across of what it feels like. I have CRPS, and I made my kids watch the video so they can kind of get some idea of what I go through on a daily basis. I had a work injury in 2006, and have been dealing with CRPS in my feet and legs since then - and fighting with the work comp system as well! I also started scrapping as a way to deal with being injured, and it's been a great outlet ever since.
I hope to see more of you online as time goes on.
    Fondly,
    Suzanne
